Ditto! Went like stink for us in previous garden on heavy clay. Don't seem to be so prolific on slightly acid silt/loam in new garden, but plenty hitched a ride with us so I'll be spreading them around.
Where's the harm? What do you want to grow that can't share the space with a violet? By the same token, I can't understand why people get aeriated about celandines. They brighten the garden for a couple of weeks and then they disappear until next spring.
As said previously I have never had any luck with violets yet from what I read you either loathe them or love them I would just love a few they remind me of the woods when I was a boy there must of been thousands growing.
I might give them another go at the edge of the new wildlife hedge I'm creating at the allotment.
