First earlies, earth up?

Hi everyone
On G.W last night  Monty planted some first early spuds in holes using a dibber. He did not however mention what happens when they come through but implied that you don't need to earth them up. Having planted spuds for the last 6 years, in trenches, I have always earthed them up. Can anyone advise please? If there is an easier way, particularly in a raised bed and for first earlies only, I'd  love to know please.

He planted them deeper than normal, so they shouldn't need earthing up. They crop more quickly them 2nds or mains so I'd say no earthing up needed .
I might well be wrong though.

That was my understanding too @Hostafan1 ... although if there was foliage above ground and a frost was forecast I’d earth them up or protect with fleece. Earthing up would be the more environmentally friendly choice.
