Could somebody identify this rose?

Hi, I'm trying to find what type of rose this is, towards the back of the bed. Also the best course of action with it, as it's looking rather neglected?

Would really appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Sorry Matt, impossible to tell at the moment. You might have to wait for it to flower.

Do you mean is it a rambler, climber or bush rose? Probably the latter. Would certainly cut out all the dead wood, any crossing branches and shorten what's left to the height you want. Give it a dose of toprose and mulch.

Doesn't really matter at this stage if it's a shrub or a climber or a rambler.  It needs rescuing by some good pruning and then generous feeding and mulching.   Have a look at this link from the RHS - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=186

Once it's growing healthily again someone here will be able to help with an  identity but, for now, treat it as a neglected shrub rose in need of a haircut and a feed.
