Basil is about the only SM herb I can’t keep going, but handy out of season. I’m lucky enough to have the right conditions to grow it outside in the summer, where it romps away. Sister-in-law actually took a massive bunch back to the UK to make pesto!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

I usually only cut as much as I need and then let it regrow. And reuse until it flowers or until I need everything that's there. I am too lazy to repot parsley or coriander.
But around this time of the year, I take cuttings from shop bought basil and use them to grow several plants (and then cuttings from them too, later in the season) to have an infinite amount of basil. It's much easier than growing from seed.

The Greek basil is much easier than the one with the big leaves.. I put one outside in full sun when there's no danger of frost.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
