Making cuttings bushy- best way to rectify?

Dirty HarryDirty Harry Posts: 1,048
I have 2 each of hebe great orme and bowles mauve here that I've just potted on. I obviously left it a bit late to pinch these out as they're a bit on the tall side.

What's the best way to try and get them bushy, bearing in mind they're just potted on? Would it be an idea to chop them down again a fair bit? The bowles mauve have very strong root systems, the hebe not so much.

The hebes look like they have already been pinched out and are bushing of their own accord.  I would leave them. The wallflowers could do with the top inch being pinched off.

I meant I have already pinched them out but I suspect I left it later than ideal. You can see on the left hand wallflower if you click on the picture and zoom in.

Still worth taking another chunk off the top of the wallflowers in this case?

If you have already pinched them, you need to give it time. When new side shoots are about three inches long, pinch again.
