Hi all, fallen in love with these and going to get some tubers for this year but ordering online and not sure what other colours wiuld go with them? Cream? Whire? Orange? Anyone grown them and if so what with? They lool like a very pale apricot/cofffee shade but slightly different shades in each photo i see. I am sure someone on here grew them and posted a photo last year so if anyone can help? Never done dahlias before so any tips? Thanks

There's a new "cafe au lait Royal" now on the Sarah Raven site - with a pink tinge.  They suggest "Watermelon".  Have a look at "Henriette" - one I really like.  I have lots in pots and have just received more from SR.  So many lovely ones to choose from!

    There’s a pic on
page54 of the latest SR catalogue with Cafe au lait in a mixed arrangement in a vase, showing the colours that tone well with it.

Most of the plant suppliers online have it not looked at SR I always think  she is a bit expensive but may give her a try thanks

Lidl had some in last week . They may have some left if you are quick. I think mine originally was a Taylors. I have split it each year and now have eight.  It goes well with peaches and pinks.
Labyrynth is another good coloured one that goes with it.
Being so large, I usually put one per vase. Disbudding gives bigger flower heads.  The plants will need good stakes, with each shoot tied to one, as heavy rain will make the head so heavy it will break the plant.

The yellow ones are Kelvin floodlight, also from Lidl last year.

I don't bother with the fancy dahlias as they offer nothing for wildlife. I use single dahlias which the bee's love

That display is beautiful FB. I see your point Marc but I have a garden and an allotment full of flowers many of which are good for bees, there are hives on the allotment and I grow some plants specifically for them so I am allowing myself some flowers purely for myself.
