    anything but summer bedding.
Maybe Lysimachia. A photo of it growing would be good

Thankyou! You are right. Just googled it and it does come up with yellow flowers! My nan in law gave me it last year and it has grown back :)
Lucky I didn't chop it out the ground. Thanks very much for your help. I'm a newbie to gardening so hopefully I will get better in time! Thanks for your time again.
  • Yes, Lysimachia, aka 'Yellow Loosestrife'. I have it coming up as well.
    Thankyou very much :)

It looks rather like a weed I get in my garden a lot but I haven't yet been able to identify it. It has deep roots which break easily and also self seeds but the plantlets are easy to pull up if you get them early.

This might not be the same thing, might even be a perennial you planted and forgot but it does look like the weed I get on my damp clay soil.

It is a perennial that people plat on purpose but it's also a thug as it spreads so easily.  I don't like the yellow flowers or the tall purple version but I do like the white one - lysimachia clethroides alba and have seeds for a lovely purpley red one called Beaujolais.

Hope you have better luck with L. Beaujolais than me @Obelixx.
When I have grown the seed, it only seems to last for 2 years, then I never see it again.

Same here - I bought plants last year and they look OK at the moment but it's too early to know whether it'll last any longer than my seed-raised ones.  Maybe it needs to be treated as a biennial.  The white one (clethroides alba), on the other hand, is a complete and utter thug here.

Oh crumbs!  I have quite enough challenges in this garden already.  However I do really like the flower shape and colour so I'll give them a go.   Brought a clump of clethroides with me and will be very happy if they spread.   Lots of new beds coming up so plenty of room.
