i wanted to join my local parks friends group so that I could help improve the rockery in the garden (what was advertised on the poster), when i turned up the chairwoman told me she was the youngest member of the group and she was 72 years old, most were in their late 80's or early 90's.
what they were actually looking for was young people to do all the labour, so the group could take all the credit and get their pictures in the paper.
I left fairly quickly after the talk about the works!

oh and i also helped with a community group that i left once the chairwoman voted her family and best friends (by forcing other committee members out - sometime through threats of physical violence- and not giving any members a vote) onto the committee and it became a dictatorship.
she also didn't have a clue when it came to organising events -like the fact that you have to let the council and fire brigade know if your having a fireworks and bonfire party in a council park and health and safety - like not having a fence around the bonfire and lighting it with a molotov cocktail 'for dramatic effect'

Sounds delightful.  How are you?  All better and raring to go I hope.

Three is the ideal number for a committee...   :)

@jayne10b and @B3, when visiting an NGS garden yesterday I heard about a Charlton and Blackheath group that sounds pretty good.
