When to plant Calla Lily bulbs

Just had a delivery of various Calla Lily bulbs, Arum Halcum, Canna Durban,  Kniphofia Uvaria and some Gladiolus Price Orange. Apart from the Gladioli and Kniphofia I want to plant them in containers.

I have been told it is too early to plant now as it is still cold and wet so is it OK to store them in the house in the box they arrive in for another few weeks or should I plant some or all of them out now in the containers and the gladioli in soil or store them somewhere else?  Thanks

Do you have the space to start them off potted up indoors? Individual small pots on a windowsill maybe?
They'd be better in some compost rather than a box.

I tipped out my pot of callas that had been kept in the greenhouse overwinter, they were so fat they bent the pot out of shape. I've potted them up in single pots to grow on and will put them together in a bigger planter outside when the weather warms up.
  • Thanks  It also says that afternoon sun is to strong for them and they prefer morning sun (Gracy). Others say plant in full sun (Parker). The containers I want to plant many of them in get about three hours of afternoon sun. Would that be too strong ?
