Rose and sweet pea companion planting

Hi! Has anyone planted a sweet pea with a climbing rose in a pot...?
Can't find any advice as to whether it's a good or bad idea on tinterweb.
Thoughts please!
Thank you.

I really want to try it... COMPASSION ROSE with either:

    MATUCANA sweet pea
    Or
KING SIZE NAVY BLUE sweet pea.

    Any thoughts or musings welcome!

Never seen this done but not sure why. Not an expert but sweet peas are hungry and thirsty and would maybe use too many nutrients. Also to be honest I think it would look messy but that’s just my opinion by all means give it a try it can’t do any harm

I am not sure if its a good combination because one is a perenial and other an annual. Assuming its a newly planted Compassion rose, it wont grow fast enough to catch up with the sweet pea. Also sweet peas are a bit hard to control, as they quickly over take everything around them.

I agree with the above... I tried it once with 'Benjamin Britten' rose, which was already 5 foot tall in a pot... I didn't like it, the plants are too messy and smother the rose... I wouldn't do it again...
You'll need a large pot for 'Compassion'...  best of luck, I hope it turns out better for you than it did for me..

Thanks Marlorena... I haven't planted the sweet peas yet... So based on the advice I think I'll give it some more thought and see if I can put them elsewhere first. Thank you!
