Avocado stones -what happens next ?

were germinated last summer and over-wintered in the un-heated downstairs loo. (Excuse the dangly wind chimes)

i don’t know what is the next stage of care.  Should I pinch out the top to make them break further down and create a ‘bush’ or are they usually grown as ‘trees’ with one central growing point ? Do they need bigger pots yet and should I give them a general feed from now on ?

i might stand them outdoors if we have a hot summer - I have a wall-protected patio in a south facing east Anglian garden which is a haven for Mediterranean plants etc.

thanks for any advice.

They are trees and have ambitions to be very large.  They are not frost tolerant so you're going to have to bin them at some point unless you have a Kew gardens sized conservatory.   This site will help with their care needs in the meantime - https://www.californiaavocado.com/avocado101/your-own-avocado-tree

I’ve seen ones which have been cut hard back to half their height at the stage yours are at, and they made much more attractive (and manageable) houseplants.

I saw there was an article in The Telegraph online a couple of days ago that indicated avocados were going to be grown in the UK. I'm not a subscriber, so couldn't read the article.
Being trees I assume they've developed an avocado that can withstand the vagaries of our weather, or created a dwarf variety for greenhouse

I saw an avocado tree a fortnight ago. On the equator. It was the size of a mature oak tree.
Enjoy it for a few years as a house plant.
