These are planted up with the sort of plants you can buy in any garden centre or even some supermarkets. Geraniums lobelia petunia etc just look for plants that trail and plant them up in May, depending whereabouts you are. Plenty of water and a good compost with a slow release fertiliser incorporated. Then just hope for sunshine!

Yes debs is right, summer bedding plants, widely available in GC's, diy stores and supermarkets.

In the window box I can see blue/white trailing lobeliea at the bottom, red pelargoniums, yellow marigolds, and some pansy faces peeping out in the middle. The pink ones could be petunias, not quite sure ???  I prefer callibrachoas to petunias, they don't require deadheading or get flattened by rain 😁.

Edit: Zooming in a second time I've spotted a couple of fuschias too, possibly the trailing type.

Why not take it take this picture with you. Heights are important. Most garden centres will be selling all these as plug plants.  Plant and keep in greenhouse until will on
up here in Scotland we never put them out until the may bank holiday when all risk if frost should be over.
send us a picture in July!
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

When you go shopping stuart and cody, a lot of these summer bedding plants are sold in trays of multiple  small plug plants and can look to the untrained eye like little leafy things.
Don't be fooled, once they get going they will increase in size considerably.

If you have a smartphone and mobile data you could google the names on the shop labels to see what the fully grown plant looks like 😀.

  • As above, look for trailing varieties, petunia surfinia is great steam can reach up to 90 cms. If you have a shady area trailing begonias would work.

You might add some twiggy branches for support too.. as a bit of wind would thrash those taller plants.

Being an amateur gardener, this is exactly what I do!! 😂
  • I have a pet hate for lobelia in baskets. I find they go over and look tatty midway through the season.
I prefer trailing verbena and bacopa along with the other recommendations.
