Ideas for Privacy

Looking for ideas as to which plants, bushes or trees are best for a bit more privacy? At the moment we have a large gap and the neighbours can easily see over our brick wall.

Which would be easy enough to grow next to a wall? That would reach 6ft or more? Privacy in the winter months isn’t such a concern.

Thanks!

If we're to make meaningful suggestions, we need a little more info Sherrie. :)

What's the soil like?(acid, alkaline, heavy clay, free draining sand, enriched, poor, waterlogged, very dry  etc etc)

Is it a sunny or shady spot? Is it exposed to cold or drying winds?

Whereabouts in the country are you - there's a big difference between what might grow well  in Cornwall & what will survive in Aviemore!

What is the maximum ultimate height for the planting?

What is the maximum spread (width and depth) for the planting?

How much gardening expertise do you have and how much time do you have for pruning, dead heading etc? Do you need something which is low maintenance or are you happy to tend and nurture the plant(s).

Is this an area that you regularly walk past? so plants with perfume would be welcome and those with thorns less so. Or is a tucked away spot at the back of the border where anything goes?

How close is it to your and neighbours house? (we wouldn't suggest planting a tree if it was within 2 or 3 metres of your house).

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
