Pre seeded grass seed mat-is there such a thing?

hi there

you know you can buy those hanging basket shets/ mats /disks with impregnated seeds in that you just cover with soil and plant? Does anyone know if they do one with grass so i can do little patches at all please? I need lightweight solutions these days!

    yes, its called turf, one roll can patch up lots of gaps,
    alternatively you can seed grass in a large seed tray and use that to patch gaps

    Ho ho ho treehugger! Sadly i cant lift turf. Good idea re seed tray though. Was just wondering if they did those impregnated mats really. Not to worry.

    I did a quick Google but could only find large-scale stuff, eg https://www.hy-tex.co.uk/products/biodegradables/grassmat-preseeded-erosion-control-mat
    If you have (or can get) seed trays and compost, sow grass seed in trays, keep it watered, and clip with shears or scissors when it's grown some to encourage it to thicken up and form mats/mini turves.  Then you can cut them to size to patch your gaps.

    If Ryan wants to advertise he should contact admin and pay for it.

    If it was wanton advertising then I could partially understand albeit this is not 'our' forum so I'm not sure the level of interest in advertising is relevant. As it is, the link is directly related to a question raised as acknowledged by the OP who raised the original question. They certainly appreciated it.

    The original question is 18 months ago so the OP will have dealt with the problem by now. You will have noticed that the original link (wot I posted) was not spam - it was timely, and I have nowt to do with the company.
