Help please: what's happened to my laurels?

Planted potgrown laurels in hedge gap last year as other hedging plants failed to grow.

All fine until autum or winter. Now i have stems with no leaves.🙄

The pictures are a bit too close, so can't see the overall shrub. But, these shrubs are quite tough. Give them an overall cut-back and they should respond with more growth soon. Being they are new plants, you need to keep an eye on watering, especially during dry spells in the warmer months. Lay a new thick layer of compost or bark chip to keep moisture in.
  • Yes. We have a muntjac army in Norfolk.

looks like my Laurels, Muntjac are the only animals I've seen eating them. (I have a trail camera in the garden at night)
