Hedge gap

Hi there's a bit of a gap at the bottom of my hedge which I'd like to fill in asap. Elsewhere as bigger and I used a couple of spotted laurels but it's taken quite a while for those to work. I wondered if a cherry laurel might do well in this space as cats and foxes cut through and the ground can be fairly stoney? Also when the sun shines the gap looks quite bad so looking to fill and screen a bit withong existing hedge.Any ideas? Thanks

That's only a small gap and the hedge looks healthy.  I would let some of the privet shoots near the gap grow long and tie them in across the space, rather than try to get something else established in ground that will be full of privet roots.

The hollies in the little bed in front will probably shade out the hedge and cause a bigger bare area once they get going, anyway.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
