is this box blight?

I was wondering if this is box blight? If I cut it right back but don't dig it out will that deal with it? I was thinking of planting some jasmine there which could grow amongst the box if it comes back or just on its own if it doesn't. Will the box blight affect the jasmine. Thanks (I have very little experience with hedges and this is just a small bit so not too bothered about saving it - it's also not my place, I just help with the front garden)

  • I’m not sure if it is box blight, you can get box tree caterpillars and if you look towards the bottom of your second picture you can see what looks like a caterpillar on there.

Didn't look like blight to me either - good spot re: the caterpillar Chrissy !

thank you, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't notice the caterpillar

Ok, assuming that's the problem, what sort of (non-nasty chemical) strategy is there ?

If you have a look at the link l posted above Ju1i3, there is a bit about non chemical control that may be of help  :)
