Lavender

I didn't cut this old lavender plant back - is it worth doing now before Spring comes or just leave it? Thanks

I would call that one dead,   You will be able to buy some nice ones in the supermarkets soon.

  • I agree with that it looks like a goner. It has thick wooden stem, so it’s definitely seen a few summers anyway and at a certain age Lavenders need replacing anyway.

@Foxosimo , l agree with the others, time to dig it out and replace  :)
  • It's fit for nowt really
  • Thought so but each year it seems to come back ok.
  • Ours look like that, but they've been covered in flowers and bees in the summer.
  • Same here. We inherited this with the house and after some building work it's now more accessible. Wondered whether to cut it back now or later in year but seems to do ok having been left untouched previously?

I would get a new one, but I'd also cut that one back to about 6 inches above the ground and give it a couple of months before digging it out.  They're not supposed to grow back from a hard chop but I had one that did (and lasted a few more years before I got rid of it to put something else in the space)
