Pond algaecide.

I am in the middle of cleaning out my fish pond (not wildlife one) and there is a lot of blanketweed etc in great handfuls at the bottom plus loads of sludge.I have always cleaned my ponds at this time of year with no ill effects on fish etc.
In the summer I use Cloverleaf Blanket Answer and Barley straw logs which keeps it relatively clear. Also Sludge Clear
If I used an algaecide now to of get rid of algae while there is not too much of it would that help at all.
The pond is 721 litres.

Algae need sunlight to thrive. Adding some kind of shading would help.
Hopefully we will see water hyacinth available again this year. Get as muvh as you can. This will provife shade as well as use up much of your nitrate.
Personally, i just leave it for Mother Nature to deal with. I get an algae bloom most years. It etays for 3 or 4 weeks then goes.
Here is a good article about it....

I usually dose my pond sometime in March, but before I do, I use a net to remove sludge in much the same way as you do.
