Can anyone help identify this plant please? Thank you

  • It's a salvia in the same family as 'hot lips' I think.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thank you
  • Hi, is there anything I can do to save this plant? Why does it look grey? Any help very much appreciated.

Is it the same plant? It looks like it has been frosted. My hot lips loses all its leaves after a hard frost and then regrows in Spring. I then prune it to the lowest new shoots so that it has a fresh new appearance.
  • Yes, it is the same plant. Thank you very much for your help. Can I prune it now or shall I wait till Spring? Thank you

Wait until spring when you can see where the new growth is happening. That's where you'll need to cut back to. Meanwhile the old  growth will protect the branches from frost.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • Ok, Thank you so much for your help.
