Light weight lawn mowers?

Petrol mower and light are pretty much mutually exclusive.  If you want a mower which will cut long/wet grass you are certainly going to need the power of a petrol mower.
I'm not sure that what you are looking for actually exists, but agree with AnniD that a garden machinery specialist needs to be your first port of call.  We have a couple near us an both carry a fairly extensive stock.

For reliability and longevity I would definitely recommend a Honda rotary petrol. I sold my last one for spares a couple of years ago when it was starting to have transmission problems but, after 20+ years of service, I didn't think it owed me much. Replaced it with...... another Honda.

They're not cheap and they're certainly not lightweight. There is no way I could lift ours in and out of the car singlehanded (5' petite build). I would definitely consider putting a towbar on the car and investing in a small low level trailer with a ramp.

That way you can keep most of your garden tools out of your nice clean new vehicle and you don't risk damaging it, yourself or your tools lifting them in and out.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

I'm going to 2 places, on Wednesday, a ramp is the best solution, I think. Thanks for all the replies
