Advice about moving a Wisteria

Redesigning my garden involves moving a Wisteria, which, although 4 years old,  really only started flourishing last year.  It is currently sitting in a raised bed against a trellis  which has now been dismantled. I’ve managed to extricate it from the trellis but now faced with digging it up. any advice? Also will it live happily in a large planter, because the ground in the area it needs to be is very heavy wet clay?? I can send a picture (if I can figure out how)

  • Here are pics of Wisteria
  • I would assume winter is the best time to move it. We have one growing in clay, it took 5 years but it flowers mainly in spring but we do get a further 2 shows of blooms. If you literally dig around it and put in a v.large pot it should be ok. Ours was before it went in the ground though you may not get flowers
