They'll probably appreciate fruit and veggies more when they see them growing and can pick them themselves.

Oh Obelix if only that were true for my children! They will sow seeds, dig soil, water and care for them, but eat them? Nope... my daughter is a little better than my son, but to be fair he is on the autistic spectrum and has struggled with food textures his whole life, even as a baby. They will get there eventually. All I can do is provide them with a good example and encourage.

When Possum was little she'd happily grub about and help.  We hardly ever got any fresh blueberries or alpine strawberries to the table.  She even ate broccoli and cabbage and beets and the rest but then one day she decided there were too many insects and spiders and caterpillars out there and "couldn't we have veggies from the shops Mummy?".    She's still wary of caterpillars in her broccoli but is, at last, now realising that growing veggies and fruit and herbs may be a useful skill.

She's just turned 24.  It's been a long time coming.
