Doggie diversions

our 10 year old retriever is recovering from TPLO. (Knee surgery). She has been quite poorly but has suddenly become very restless and whiney. (Day6) All the usual needs been checked and we can find nothing except complete boredom and envy of the other dog getting outside. Kongs worked well to begin with but she seems disinterested today. 
Any ideas at all as to how to keep this girl calm are more than welcome,  it sure how we are to manage three more weeks confined to the crate 😩

    You could ask the vet, he may prescribe a mild sedative to keep her calm.

    Thanks. I will ask the nurse this afternoon. I just feel she has been on so many drugs! However if needs must ........

    There’s a calming pheromone diffuser for dogs like Feliway for cats. No idea what it’s called but a friend swears by it ... your vet will know what it’s called.

    Adaptil is the pheromone diffuser for dogs.
    I had some but never used it. Gave it to a friend and she said it helped with her restless collie.
    It needs to be used in a confined space, so if there a plug socket near to her crate, that would be ideal.
    She looks a real seweetie :) hope her recovery goes well

    When dear Hodge had her ‘knee ops’ there didn’t seem to be crates around ... we got the wooden playpen out of the loft and she was in that next to the Rayburn in the kitchen during the day and in the evening we’d carry it through into the sitting room and put in her usual place in front of the fire while we watched telly do things were as normal as possible for her.

    Our flatcoat had a TPLO op earlier this year... my disabled Mum came into her own, as she spends days sitting watching TV, and he was happy to sit next to her and be petted. It did them both a lot of good... your golden does look lovely! Hope the convalescence goes well, and you manage to get her settled somehow...

    Thank you. We thought about a playpen but decided she would just climb out. I am sure she is bored. This would normally be a Paws for Stress day
    tomorrow a Read2dogs  wed and Thursday quiet then Friday our hospital visit. She can go back visiting until August 
    as far as I know she cant read but nothing would surprise me!ha ha
    off for post op check. That should fill some time🤣

    What a lovely girl she is Lilly Pilly. I hope the vet can help. She certainly looks as though she's enjoying that book !
