Potted up 45 plug plants and moved them, and most of the seedlings, into the greenhouse.  Still have seeds to sow, hopefully will get them done this weekend.  Need them to germinate before  I go away for a few days at the beginning of April. Have ordered a couple more self watering window trays.

Planted two foxgloves mertonis and one heuchera 'Firestorm' next to an existing one near enough the same colour. I was very impressed with how colourful it looked throughout the winter, so thought I'd plant some more. Also near the same spot is a heucherella Firestone Falls underneath a small spirea 'Goldflame' so fingers crossed it creates a good colour combo.  Had to dig out 6 carrier bags full of allium 'Christophii' though to make room, which I put on the drive for people to take away for free.
In books, it never mentions how they self seed so prolifically! Pruned the buddelea and hydrangeas as well.  Tired but happy now.

Allotment yesterday laid weed membrane and bark in space between poly tunnel and bean trellis looks tidier now, made up the rest of cloches and ordered six more panels, filled one large pot in poly tunnel ready for planting peas today. Growing in the tunnel as the local badger family love them and just destroy them if planted outside.

Received an ex-3L bare root Persicaria 'Orange Field' in the post - now split into three small plants with big pieces of fleshy root attached.

Finally started seed sowing in the GH yesterday, Salad, Toms, Brassicas, Sweet peppers. Have 'cranked up' the propagator to 18C to get the toms & peppers going.

How is it l go out with a list of jobs this morning and come back with only one complete?!!
And OH did that one for me....
I planned to get a few things planted, then thought while l was getting them out, l would check over the other plants in the coldframes. Ended up potting them on,  tidying them up and getting rid of some that had either died or had vine weevil grubs in. By the time l'd done that l was knackered,  so l have left the ones that l still haven't got planted on the patio. Thank heavens for retirement,  l used to hate having so much to do and not enough time to do it, at least now in theory there is enough time, although it won't be until Friday, or maybe even Saturday! At least the forecast looks good .

The new veg beds are now painted.  Phew. Bad news is the trellis and top soil won't come till Tuesday.  So only the cherry can be planted.

Got my Charlotte potatoes in, will fleece them if it turns cold again, planted out some beetroot/onion, spring onion and turnip modules, again will fleece but have been outside for a few weeks already. Lettuces, rocket and greyhound cabbage are growing nicely, albeit slowly, radishes, spinach and peas have all sprouted in their rows! Rescued a toad that had fallen in one of the empty pots outside.. time for a cuppa!
  • I sowed more Burpless cucumbers, Bolthardy beetroot and aquileagia seeds this morning.  Some seeds are doing well but we are so short on sunshine here - and so the cold greenhouse feels damp and dull.  I am not surprised the seeds don't want to germinate!
