I’d  like to reply to your post Lori, but I won’t.

My son was sent to hospital in July. We're still on a waiting list to see a consultant about it.

Every time we go to hospital I see people there wasting NHS time and money. People who are crippling the system because they won't help themselves. I don't blame the NHS at all when they're faced with so many people like that. I hope the system can be fixed before we end up with a system like in America though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not at all Liri,   but if I put my thoughts on here someone would be knocking on my door with a lynching party.
As  WE says, too many time wasters.

  • Yes, I agree about the time wasters.  But sometimes the people at A&E who don't really need to be there, have been unable to get an appointment for their worrying but minor condition with their over-stretched GP...

The NHS is a very emotive subject for obvious reasons. With 4 elderly parents all in their 80s, my OH & l have been very lucky in the care they have received in emergency situations. When l read about things such as ambulances being called out for minor injuries (broken fingernail) , it shows a serious lack of education somewhere along the line. The plans to introduce more care from pharmacies etc, may have some effect, but these days people (not all, l know) expect immediate attention, no matter how minor the problem. I have seen at first hand the work of paramedics, doctors, nurses in very stressful and upsetting situations and l admire the work they do very much.

All we have to do fix the NHS is agree to pay more tax to go directly to it; but how many would agree to that?

I don’t agree that chucking more money at it will help, the whole thing needs a good sort out.  The top man who earns more than the Prime minister, needs to take a close look at the finances.

  • @Hostafan1 - maybe I'm in cloud cuckoo land, but I really think a lot of people would be prepared to pay more taxes if the money went to the NHS.

chucking money at the right bits of it would help.
I think " the top man" DESERVES more than the prime minister, especially the useless one we have now.
