Joe Swift

Could not really find an appropriate category to put this under. I saw the sad news of the passing of Joe Swift's father. He was Clive Swift the actor who played Richard the long suffering husband in "Keeping up Appearances" Such sad news, my thoughts and prayers are with Joe and his family at this difficult time.

    So I guess that means Joe’s mother is Margaret Drabble.

    Clive Swift seemed to be such a genuine man. He’ll be remembered with affection.

    Yes Picidae you are correct. Though Joe's father and mother got divorced in 1975. Joe also lost his sister to cancer in 2017. I did not realise that Clive Swift was Joe's father.

    Clive Swift was also wonderful as Bishop Proudie in Barchester Towers - another husband comically in thrall to an overbearing wife.

    And his aunts are A S Byatt and the Art Historian, Helen Langdon.  He comes from a distinguished family.
