I’ve used Cuprinol ducksback which is water repellent, coverage was v good as it’s quite thick, supposed to last 5 years too early to tell if it will yet
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
The only thing I can add is, for years we used cuprinol , then without me realizing, it went from being a (solvent based?) preservative to a waterbased protective paint type product. Though I now understand they do both.
Sorry if you already know but I didn't notice or realize. There is a big difference. Preservative protects the wood against fungus and rotting.
A lot of the water based coloured paint products are waxy to help shed water but do not preserve the wood.
I hope that helps a bit with choice if you did not already know. Some like me didn't know or realize for a while. I know I did not read the labels and i should have, but it looked like the old original stuff. I was very embarrassed to tell my other half I had wasted a lot of money on coloured waxy water.
