Starting seeds in unheated conservatory

Thanks for all of your advice, I sowed the seeds into windowsill propagators I bought from Wilkos. They have five seperate trays of six cells in them. I've only put one seed in each cell, is that correct? It seemed like quite a lot of room for each one but I'm not sure how much they need. I also have some capillary matting underneath so I'm hoping that will mean I don't have to water from the top. The lids have condensation in, should I wipe it off? I have put two of them on a normal sized heated mat so I hope it doesn't dry out the capillary matting.

They all said to cover with 0.5cm of compost which I tried to do but I think I sprinkled it on a bit thicker. I don't know how to be accurate. Would I be able to remove some if it doesn't work or should I start again? And finally, when I filled the cells, I was pressing the compost down a bit before So I could fit more in before I put the seed in. Is that right? I didn't know if I was supposed to leave it loose so the seed can root more easily.

sorry for all of the silly questions, I was very aware that I wasn't exactly sure what I should be doing for each step.
