Are these bluebells?

these are popping up. I know it’s early to tell but I’m sure they’re not hyacinths, daffs  or snowdrops. Can anyone identify at this early stage?

Hi Robmarston. They certainly look like bluebells but at this early stage they also look like hyacinths. Time will tell.

How strong is your curiousity? Dig one up?
Could they be Spanish bluebells, they have bigger thicker leaves than natives. Even comparing them in size against the oak and holly leaf. We have little clumps of native bluebells just showing outside the front door and the leaves look thinner than yours.
But that could be down to conditions and area.
    How wide are those leaves?

Looking online and comparing I think Hyacinth more likely.

I know these are bluebells -

  • If they turn out to be Spanish bluebells I would hoick them out. Their wide leaves smother anything in the vicinity and seem to last forever. I'm waging war on them now and am replacing them with the much nicer English bluebell.
  • From where they are, I don’t think they’re hyacinths so I’ll wait and see. The English bluebells have bells down one side of the stem and Spanish go all around, am I right?

That's correct. English bluebells are scented too whereas Spanish bluebells aren't.

Looks like Bluebells are so early in some areas, mine won’t flower until May and will just start popping up in March.
