i have a slimline water butt in my home greenhouse and a 1000 ltr bowser in my work polytunnel, (both full of water) i use them as space heaters,
This sounds very sensible, we've got a slim butt outside the greenhouse, so maybe we should shunt it inside. It does mean we'd lose all that space though.
At first reading, the idea that a few tealight candles could affect the temperature of a greenhouse seems unlikely. However, if the greenhouse is also insulated, any heat generated would be retained better in the greenhouse so there may be an effect. Unless somebody has two identical greenhouses it's going to be difficult to test in real world conditions by heating one only and comparing temperatures.

That's true, but there are some definites, like how much energy is contained in a small quantity of candlewax, and you could compare that to how much is contained in a litre of water at any given temperature. My guess is that a bucket of water would have about the same effect as a candle at preventing frost.
My Sister in laws husbands mum used candles in her green house but they set fire to something in the green house luckily not much damage but beware of using naked flames
I can confirm that Prices candles do tea lights (used to be called night lights) burn for 8 hours .Also make sure they are in a jar or something as you dont want them setting fire to anything
To be safe I would use a proper greenhouse heater.
