How deep is "Deep in a Module "

I have been given some onion seeds and been advised to start them off in " deep modules"

I have some which are 2 " in depth

I realise I can use individual pots or seed trays

? Any advice friends

I consider deep modules to be 4 inch deep as in  deep root trainers.  Onion seed only needs to be just covered with compost, but the roots go deep.

I’d rather use a flower pot and put a few seeds in each.

I have used 6" deep pots and sown about 10 seeds and covered with about 1/2 " compost

I will wait a week and repeat
