Looking for a European plant supplier

Hi there, does anyone know of a good online plant supplier that delivers to Europe? I'm in Belgium. I used to use Crocus in the UK but sadly they don't deliver outside the UK :(

  • Can I ask why you specifically want to get plants from the UK when I know from experience there are a lot of very good nurseries in Belgium and one I would definitely recommend is willem van Herreweghe

  • Not specifically wanting to get plants from the UK, I just mentioned that I used Crocus when I was in the UK. If there are good online ones here in Belgium I'd be very happy to try them, just looking for recommendations. Thanks for yours @Hampshire_Hog

What type of plants are you looking for in particular?  roses, perennials, shrubs, conifers, Acers?...   there are many specialist nurseries for these all over Europe...  if you want roses I can recommend several, but if you want to order from say Amazon UK, then let me recommend to you Lubera... many of their plants including roses are sold via Amazon or you can order direct from them... they are a Swiss company who operate out of Germany, near Bremen...

..this site in Holland have a huge selection... Esveld NL..

If you want roses FIL in Belgium have an enormous selection... Tuincentrum Lottum or Bierkreek in Holland likewise, or Fabien Ducher in France...

I would have thought most UK nurseries would still ship to Belgium, at least for now...I'm surprised Crocus don't, but they wouldn't be my first port of call in any case, personally..  depends what you want..

I live in Belgium too. I find that the Internet is still a bit behind here and no amazon etc.. but, Holland has a lot of good online plant suppliers for example Tuincentrum. nl  And they all ship tp Belgium.

It's way too expensive and problematical for Crocus to deliver outside the UK and I've tried having plants delivered to a relative to ship on thru the PO but the PO refused.  Fortunately, Crocus were happy for me to try that route and also happy to take back the plants - good company.

As for Belgium, I never used their nurseries for online orders.  It's a small country and we lived in the geographical middle - south of Brussels - so every now and then a good day out was in order.  There are also spring and autumn plant fairs where people like Clematis.be (what it says on the tin) and rose grower http://www.danielschmitz-roses.com/ were happy to bring orders to the plant fair at Aywiers for me to collect.

In France, I have used Promesse des Fleurs and Busy-Lizzie uses a website that does plugs for spring delivery.

Also, have a look for Floralux garden centres. They are in various places and have a good range.
  • Many thanks everyone for these suggestions. Sometimes you want a specific plant that's not available at a garden centre so that's when it's good to have a site to order from.

@Obleixx I went to the plant fair at Aywiers last spring for the first time and agree that it's excellent. I'd been looking for Solomon's Seal for ages and there I found it! Mind you, the plants were later devoured by my slugs. I'll have to go back for more.

@Bijdezee Yes I imagine the Netherlands have a good selection of suppliers, unfortunately I don't speak Dutch.

Ironically, I've just heard back from Unwins that they can't deliver the King Edward potatoes I was so looking forward to! I will keep searching...

They often have an English option on the the Dutch websites and they speak very good English.
