Do plants like bubble wrap?

  Roses and blackcurrant will stand the cold so long as the roots don't freeze. I would wrap the pots in bubble wrap, but not the tops. Then put them up against a house wall or even inside the garage or shed if it is freezing hard.

  Hi RedSquirrelAbroad. When you say 'pots' do you just mean the actual plant pots that your roses and blackcurrant are in at the moment? If the answer to that is 'yes' then your plants will come to no harm and you have been very wise in insulating the pots. If you meant the whole plant and pot then it would be better to leave the plant uncovered as the bubble wrap will allow moisture to gather around the plant and without ventilation the plants could suffer from things such as mildew.

  Hi @Ladybird4 they are in the pots they came in and just wrapped the pots and a couple of inches above but not over the plant. 
  
  @fidgetbones they’re against a wall and I did wonder about sticking them in the shed but then I’ll have to take them in and out day and night and though I love my plants, that’s a faff. Still, don’t want to lose them. 🤔

  Leave them outside as they are very tough but in the lee of the wall they will have enough shelter. You have done all the right things

  Thanks @Ladybird4 I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to the cold and it’s good to know the plants are made of tougher stuff!
