Yes there is.  Erect 6' posts at 6' intervals inside the wall.   Tension wires across them and then, assuming you have soil under the stones and not concrete, dig 2' wide and deep planting holes between the posts and plant climbing or rambling roses and.or clematis and/or honeysuckle.   Horizontal support wires need to be spaced at 12 to 15"/30 to 45cm intervals up from the base so that climbers can be tied in or twined round them.

Much more attractive than a hedge and can be done without damaging the wall.

    Perfect ... it’ll look gorgeous  :)

I can just see that Obelixx, that would both solve the problem and look good too.  :)

I think an issue here is that the member is an inexperienced gardener and  may not be willing or have the know how to cope with garden d.i.y… such has been suggested...there's nothing wrong in not knowing what vine eyes are - I hate the things, but it does indicate that elaborate gardening techniques may not be useful here...

I think I would go with some evergreen conical shrubs personally, perhaps a Pittosporum tenuifolium or two... in front of those windows...

  • I had looked at star jasmine at the end of last summer, would that be any good planted the way Obelixx suggested on tension wire between 6' posts?
  • I had already thought along the lines Obelixx suggested it's more Im not sure the best plant to use, thankyou for your suggestions
  • To Marlorena, would I plant Pittosporum I the ground or leave in pots?
