Strimmer 2 stroke very smoke?

My new strimmer is 53cc 2 stroke engine, the guide book said mixer ratio of 25:1. So I put in 40ml of oil into one gallon cans, after it warm up it makes so much grey smoke is spread over both of my neighbour's garden is like thick fog when is on 80% to 100% throttle on about from 9,000rpm to maximum 11,000rpm is this normal? my old Mcculloch 26cc 40:1 does not do that?

If it's 1 litre oil to 25 litres petrol, then it's 200ml oil for 5000ml (1 gallon) petrol

  • Oh I see I have miscalculate the ratio! I better to restart and pour 200ml into petrol! thanks for the head up.

Hope the engine is OK - don't overdo the oil either or that will cause more smoke.
Hope you get on well with your neighbours :)

  • Yes be careful, ironically too much oil can make 2 strokes run too lean ( partly blocks the jets) and be just as bad as not enough. I would drain out what's in the tank & put the correct mix in before you try to run it again, check the spark plug if it's oily then dry that off too.

  • Thank you I will do.
  • Yeah, I would say it is not normal to emit grey smoke in great amount.

Petrol and 2 stoke engine oil mix must be correct, and when engine runs, it shouldn't emit lot of smoke.  No smoke is best, but light blue coloured smoke should be OK.
  • Now is less smoke, I think lot of oil running down to bottom of stroke chamber from last autumn when I left it out of season. It took a while to burn it off. Thanks for remind :thumb:
