    That’s a good idea Punkdoc, it doesn’t work for me, the ones sown in March catch up to the October ones so I don’t bother anymore, I don’t sow a lot in the autumn, I like the winter rest,  by March I will be flat out right through.

    That’s true Buttercup, ever sowed them straight into the ground, never seen again! 🐁

    I agree with all the above posts........don't plant too early.......end of Feb. at the earliest.
    I too reuse plastic cartons from mushrooms, fruit etc that I buy.
    I stand the carton of compost in water and let it thoroughly soak, then allow fully drain before putting in the seeds.
    No actual tools needed until they are ready to go into the ground.
