Plant ID please

Can anyone tell me what this lovely tree is please.
My daughter lives in Grand Cayman in the Caribbean and sent me a picture of this tree.
It is growing in a garden environment but nowhere on Cayman is far from the coast!

Hello Steady Eddie. This is just a guess but could it be Barringtonia asiatica?
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
  • The flowers are very similar but from what I read Barringtonia Asiatica is evergreen and this tree doesn’t appear to be. This is very frustrating trying to ID a tree!
  • Thoth ani you for trying though 😀
  • That was supposed to read Thank you ...........
  • Could it be some type of Calliandra?  They grow in that general area and can become deciduous if growing in areas subject to a dry seaon.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • I will take a look at that. Thank you

There is a tree on Barbados called the shaving brush tree, l think it is Bombax species. Your photo reminded me of it, l had a postcard  with a similar photo years ago from a friend.
  • That’s it! Looks exactly like the pictures my daughter has send to me.
    Thank you
  • It is. It’s such a shame I won’t be visiting until July this year so will miss it completely.
