As they're indoors, I assume they're pelargoniums (not hardy geraniums)?  If so, possibly too much water or too much humidity.

  • no not hardy , but as I say I have been growing for 35 years in exactly the same conditions so unlikely down to water or humidity but thanks anyway

Could you tip out one of the pots and check for any beasties that might be nibbling the roots?

You have not changed the type or brand of compost?
So many seem variable these days even some that are from previously good sources or reputable brands the quality seems to be a bit all over the place at times.
Sure you have come across it before, but sometimes i have not realized how bad some has been before its too late. A dry hard pan crusty top with soggy stuff underneath.

Though as you say 35 years experience you know how to water and how to grow them, but with the compost quality there could be something in it that should not be with the use of a lot of recycled stuff these days.
  • Done that, can’t see anything out of the ordinary

I would think that seeing as you’ve grown them for 35 years you’d probably know better than most of us on here, if you don’t know, I don’t think I could help you.
If it’s not watering, feeding, compost or vine weevil, I haven’t a clue.
