HYPOXYLON CANKER

I have this on a close clump pf trees. I believe it to be HYPOXYLON CANKER. It is covering the trunks extensively. Do I need to destroy the affected trees?

    I'm no expert on this subject , but your tree does appear to be infected with Hypoxylon Canker .
    The host tree will die anyway ; best get rid probably by burning all affected wood .
    Best not taken to a green-waste site for obvious reasons .

    Where are you based?  The Internet suggests it's an important disease of poplars in Canada, but it's not something we know a lot about in Britain.
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
