Identifying lilac

GrajeanGrajean Posts: 447
We are clearing an old hedge and know somewhere there is a lilac but so much growth of other shrubs difficult to identify the lilac as branches still bare. Any hits, I have no idea what the branches would look like.

doesn't look like lilac to me, stems are the wrong colour and buds look the wrong shape to me.
what it is however i have no idea, you might have to wait for leaves to show
