Nepeta cataria

I am wondering if nepeta cataria is invasive? Friend gave me a few plants and want to check before i go planting it.

I love Nepeta and grow it towards the front of the border (not six hills giant which is sprawling). I don't find it invasive at all, but as it is a perennial it will increase in size, but easily controlled. The name Cataria will give you a clue to the main problem, which  is cats, who roll around in ecstatics on it at every chance they get.

I put old metal hanging baskets upside down over the crowns of nepeta to keep the cats off, works a treat and soon disappears when the stalks start growing. I got mine off Freecycle.
