Problems with orchid

I have had some great advice in the past about my orchid and although it now has a flowering stem and new roots and leaves it looks like it is suffering. I've searched the internet but its advice is very confusing. My orchid has wrinkled leaves and pale yellowy edges and one or two have splits. The internet says it's either too much light or not enough or too much water or not enough. How do I work out which one to move forward with the care? At the moment it's been sitting in the bathroom on a south facing windowsill but not in direct light due to the patterned window. It's thrived since i moved it here and has produced a flowering stem but something is still not quite right with its leaves. I don't think I've overwatered it, I do mist it and it gets humidity from the steam in the bathroom. It's had an orchid feed spray as that was also recommend but I do this every week just lightly. It's obviously helped it grow but it just needs attention to stop it stressing out. Maybe it's too cold near the window? Any ideas welcome! See photos

There is a new leaf coming, and those areal roots look happy nice green tips on them It looks to me like a plant that has been unhappy but is recovering. I would carry on doing what you are, maybe mist it ever few days if you don't already.

Thanks guys, that helps put my mind at rest. I can't wait for the flowers to appear, not sure what colour they'll be. Do you know how long it takes for flowers to appear once the flowering spikes have emerged?
  • Unless your bathroom has good daylight (clear window) I would move it into a warm room with good natural daylight - but move it away from a window in the summer when it could become too hot for the orchid - I always have good daylight for mine - they don't like dampness either so don't over water them. That is my advice and so far I have had one orchid that produced 44  flowers on it's second flowering for me.

Wow! Guernsey Donkey if mine get to be half that I'd be very happy! During the summer I have it on my desk in the spare room on an East facing side  with the light coming through from the south side window. But it's darker in the winter and not that warm so moved it to the bathroom which is the brightest room and warm with lots of lovely Natural light through the textured south windownit sits on. I had heard to move it away from the window in bright sunshine and in summer as leaves can get scorched. I think it likes it in the bathroom as it has put on more growth since its lived there. But I will need to make sure it doesn't get too damp from the humidity of the shower. I don't really have anywhere else to put it as all other windows are above a radiator and didn't think it'd like that?
  • Thank you - I must say I was surprised that this orchid did so well in it's second flowering - I treated it just the same as the others I have had - some repeat flower and other's don't for me.  I feel that you are right Bagpuss not to put your plant on a window sill above a radiator - we are lucky to have a sunlounge/conservatory which becomes far too hot for them in the summer but is ideal at this time of year - we keep the temperature at around 17-20 degrees at this time of year, although it could drop to 15 if the weather freezes.
