How can I safe guard my bulbs from being dug up and eaten by rabbits and squirrels?

You will need to use a barrier like chicken wire pinned down over the bulbs.

If you haven't got lots and don't want to buy a roll of chicken wire, then the round plastic domed cloches, which are also pegged down (to stop them blowing away) would help.
The squirrels seem to lose interest once the bulbs come up but I'm not sure about rabbits, we fortunately haven't got them.
