Hello GWRS, Yes, I grew those last summer in the GH and dried them in my basement over the winter. I wanted to make houses for chickadees and nuthatches. Now I am no artist/crafter but a month ago I went to the dollar store and bought some paints, drilled the holes and cleaned the seeds out and then played around with the paints. I will hang them out in the trees next spring.
You are certainly creative @Johnny canoe what a brilliant idea. I can't get over how colourful and tidy your garden is when in the winter your area is covered in thick snow which would be a deterrent for most gardeners. Whilst we are fretting over the wind and the rain during our shorter winter you have more snow than most of us and still manage to produce such a wonderful garden.
@Johnny canoe your ecinops looks really healthy, what month was that? mine went all brown and looked bad, but still had flowers. I've chopped most back now as they were looking too ugly, once the flowering had finished.
Hello GuernseyDonkey2, Thanks and I have learned a bit over the years on how to get the most possible out of our short growing season here next to the Rocky Mountains. Hoping for a long summer as my acorn squash plants had a slow start due to a cold early June.
Sorry Nollie but I'm terrible at remembering plant varieties. I've been keeping those orange ones for about 20yrs.
