The winds did something amazing - in fields and across lakes there are hundreds of snow rolls. I don't know if this link works, but it's the first time I've ever seen this in all the years of nor'easters I've experienced.
It rained yesterday, it’s raining now and it will be raining tomorrow ☔️
The scales are very close to tipping into more daylight hours than dark. We will have a couple of weeks of a later sunrise once the clocks change on 26th, but I am really looking forward to lighter evenings I must say.
Why is always windy on the morning the recycling bin goes out? We live on a windy corner without any shelter for the bin. Other couple questions, why don't wheelie bins have a lid catch to stop it flying open in the wind? Was thinking of placing a paver on top to weigh the lid down, but two problems comes to mind with that 1) they aren't half heavy and I'd have a problem lifting one as high as a bin, and 2) I don't think the man collecting my rubbish would be very happy with my 'idea'. This means this morning I'll be popping back and forth to the window, peering out to make sure all my rubbish isn't blowing down the road in the wind! The cart generally comes between 7.30am and 1pm, so that's a lot of popping about.
We had rain yesterday evening and overnight, 5.5mm, not bad, but it's dry but cloudy now. Fingers crossed for the rain that's in the forecast for the next couple of weeks to actually arrive (often it doesn't).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Blue skies, puffy clouds, and diamonds sparkling in the snow.
Before the storm the pile of snow that had slid off the barn roof previously was below the hay room window, after the storm, it was up to the top of the frame. Thankfully that strong March sun settled everything a good four inches yesterday. Spring is in the air!
New England, USA
Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury
Another dull day here, but dry so far after a wet evening and also through the night. You’d smile @CrankyYankee if you could hear our news reporters go into a frenzy of doom and gloom at the prospect of just a few inches of snow here - how it’s going to bring the country to a grinding halt, etc, etc. (We get nothing like the amount of snow we used to get, which they tend to forget, though perhaps they’re too young to remember 😅). Think they’d have an apocalyptic fit if they had to report on the amount you receive 😂😂

Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border.
Miserable this morning.
Grey. Dull. Overcast. Boring. But dry, so far.
