  • Rain warning for the South West. Grounds are soaked with water.
This is a proper winter weather so far. Looks like the recent 3 weird years are over and we are back to “normal “.

    I my garden.

  • Cornwall. Pouring with rain. Very dark. Blowing a hooley. Cold.

    Somerset - ditto.
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone
  • Looking at the flooding warnings, every area around us is red. Churn, Avon, Severn. One day sunshine tomorrow and Saturday again heavy rain.
It’s mid January, the rain over the coming weekend could be the last intensive one.

    I my garden.

  • Grrr, four inches of new snow yesterday, then another ridiculous warm-up and rain overnight, so everything is sloppy and slushy. Tomorrow will be below freezing, so it will be a solid block of ice...again.  I have a feeling we'll pay for this later in the winter with some whopping nor'easters.
    New England, USA
Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury

Dry and sunny here but with a very blustery wind. About 10.5c.

Mostly dry here, sunny at times but breezy. I went out for a walk around Potteric Carr nature reserve - lovely, no dogs allowed so you can look around while walking, not at the ground in front of your feet the whole time. I did a bit over 7 miles, then it started getting dark.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • I managed a dry walk with the dog, the rest of the day was quite reasonable. Dry, sunny intervals but a chilly wind.
We had a dreadful night. Torrential rain and howling wind, easing off now. I am hoping for the sunny intervals after lunch to fit in a beach walk. Strong wind forecast with a few "showers".
  • Wet here in Kent, when I went for the newspaper this morning. A little sun mid afternoon, but now my OH has gone for a walk, it looks like rain again.
I'll have a hanger ready for her sodden cagoule!!
