    I can't find any references relating to this bacteria and ponds.
    I did read that the RR bacteria thrives at temperatures around 33c and are not happy with temps below 14c, so if you're in the UK it's probably not RR.

    How big is this "pond/lake"? if it's decent size, I'd not worry about as you'd have a heck of a job clearing it. I've found the water to be purple when I've lifted lilies to split them in spring, but it sorts itself out as the season goes on

  • We are in the UK and the pond/lake is very small.  There are three of them which feed into each other.  It is the middle one which is just 3 metres by about 2 metres, so clearing it is possible.  Maybe it will sort itself out though.  Thanks.
