Any idea what sort of hedge this is?

Hi, I'm very much a novice gardener and am struggling to identify what sort of hedge this is. I'd be grateful if anyone could help, many thanks

I think that could be one of the Loniceras, cromar.g. - the shrubby honeysuckle as opposed to the climbing kind. I may be completely wrong, of course

I agree with Fairygirl, it looks more like a Honeysuckle. I'm thinking Lonicera Nitida.

I think it's lonicera nitida as well - a rather sprawly quick growing hedge which needs constant cutting to keep it looking neat.

Could it possibly be Cotoneaster franchetii ?

Not likely Hampshire_Hog. Lonicera has opposite leaf arrangement, which is evident in the original picture, whilst Cotoneaster has alternate leaf arrangement.

Zooming in to look at the leaves on the mystery shrub they would appear to be opposite on a twig.
As Ilex crenata and Cotoneaster have alternate leaves that would rule them out.
Opposite leaves would indicate Lonicera sp.
Lonicera nitida leaves look a good match.

I'm not much good at this sort of thing, I'm one of those who knows what he likes and likes allot more but has no idea of there proper name, you know the one with the pink flowers is more me I'm afraid!!

More than likely Lonicera pileata ; slightly larger leaves than L.nitida .

Any idea what sort of hedge this is?
