Wild periwinkle type flower?

Just seen this growing wild and producing a vinca major type flower ... is that what this is?  It didn’t seem to have the usual leaves so was wondering if it is actually something else  ... ?

  • Hi James, I think you are right about it being a vinca.

I agree, Vinca major.  Leaves seem to have adult vine weevil damage.

Me three. Though I cannot tell what the leaves surrounding it are, the thin stem with two lighter tatty leaves (rear right) going up the fence are right for the type.

    Me 4.
  • Funnily enough I saw this walking to the garden centre where I’ve just got some (more) variegated vinca major and some extra vinca minor illumination.  I really like the covering effect these have had at the front of some of the borders ...

Such a pretty flower, sadly for me this is a plant that will NOT grow in my garden though in other places nearby it grows like a weed!
